Submission on approach to review of electricity network economic regulation

In August 2016, the COAG Energy Council tasked the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) with monitoring developments in the energy market, including the increased uptake of decentralised energy, and providing advice on whether the economic regulatory framework for electricity transmission and distribution networks is sufficiently robust and flexible to “continue to achieve” the national electricity objective in light of these developments. The AEMC is required to publish its findings on 1 July each year.

Last week, AGL made this submission to an approach paper published by the AEMC setting out how it intends to conduct the task, the proposed information sources and the priority areas of focus for the 2017 report.
