Proudly Powering Diversity

AGL is proud to announce a new three year partnership with Midsumma to help shine the light on Victoria’s diverse gender and sexuality communities.

Championed by AGL Shine – an employee driven network established to contribute to building an inclusive and supportive workplace for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) employees at AGL – the partnership reinforces AGL’s continued commitment to creating an inclusive and open workplace.

In 2017, the partnership will centre on the theme of the Power To Be Me, and see some of AGL’s LGBTI community members and allies share what it means to them to work for a company that champions diversity. Throughout January, their faces and voices will feature on outdoor posters, within tram shelters and on trams, across Melbourne’s CBD, St Kilda and Prahran.

As AGL Business Operations Manager and Shine Committee Member, Simon Fieldhouse, explained “We hope our partnership with Midsumma will empower individuals to be their whole selves, both in and out of the workplace, and we look forward to celebrating the achievements of the LGBTI community in making this a reality.”

This new three year partnership follows AGL’s inaugural support of Midsumma Festival in 2016.

    Dear Sir,
As a member of the Australian Conservatives, I am classed as a bigot and so it would appear that I/we might be in doubt as a continuing customer of AGL.
I fail to understand why commercial companies feel constrained to allow themselves to be pressurised by lobby groups such as the LGBTQQ’ community to declare themselves on an issue of sexual preference.

As a member of the CWAS community are you also planning to allow us to run our own festival as well?

Thank you for your comment Ian.

AGL is proud to support the Midsumma festival and the LGBTI community in general. We respect your right to your opinion, just as AGL respects and values the diversity of our employees, customers and the communities in which we operate. We actively support and encourage a diverse and inclusive workplace, which is driving higher levels of employee wellbeing and innovation. AGL is proud to have been ranked Australia’s 13th most inclusive employer for LGBTI employees by the Australian Workplace Equality Index for 2016.

We hope that we may continue to serve you as our customer.

Another great reason to keep my power with AGL! Thank-you for supporting the community – diverse and wide!
