AGL releases FY2016 Sustainability Report
We are very pleased to announce that our FY2016 Sustainability Report has been published today. This report is an important part of our commitment to provide transparent information to our stakeholders.
Coinciding with the release of our FY2016 financial results, the publication of the report today brings our sustainability reporting forward by almost two months compared to previous reporting cycles.
With this sustainability report, we have focused on providing information on our ESG performance in a clear and accessible format. The report can be accessed from anywhere via mobile, tablet and desktop, and can also be downloaded and printed as pdfs. All of our 65+ data trends can be exported to Excel for use.
The report has been prepared in accordance with the best-practice Global Reporting Initiative’s ‘G4’ Sustainability Reporting Guidelines, and also takes into consideration the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors and the Financial Services Council ESG Reporting Guidelines for Australian Companies. We’ve also listened to what our stakeholders, particularly the ESG-focused investment community, are interested in, and included additional disclosure elements to meet their needs.
These additional elements include a taxation section, which outlines AGL’s practices of transparently meeting tax compliance obligations; and a rehabilitation section, which includes AGL’s Rehabilitation Principles. We have also included additional detail in relation to our membership of think-tanks and industry associations (and the corresponding fees paid), as well as an outline of where our position differs from that of associations which we are a member off. In recognition of the interest that stakeholders have in distributed energy services, and the importance of this aspect of our business to our strategy, we have included further information about our initiatives in this area. This year we have also produced two supplementary reports as a deep dive into the issues of AGL’s role in Australia’s transforming economy and in a carbon constrained future.
The report is available at www.agl.com.au/2016SustainabilityReport. We encourage you to explore the report, and let us know what you think!
