Australian Energy Council releases new Solar Report
The Australian Energy Council has today released its March 2016 Solar Report which explores trends across Australia in solar system installations and costs.
Figure 6 of the report (above) shows how average residential consumption of grid power in the Energex network area of Queensland has changed over time for both solar and non-solar customers. While consumption fell steadily across both groups since 2009, it is interesting to note that this trend has reversed since 2014, which is around the same time as residential electricity prices (and average bills) started to decline. More information about demand elasticity in relation to electricity prices can be found in recently published research by AGL economists.
