First modules installed at Broken Hill solar plant

AGL’s Broken Hill Solar Plant has reached a major milestone with the installation of the first solar photovoltaic modules at its 53 MW solar plant in western NSW.

The $150 million Broken Hill Solar Plant will consist of over 650,000 solar PV modules covering an area of approximately 140 hectares, and once fully operational will produce enough renewable energy to power 17,000 homes annually.

AGL will deliver the Broken Hill Solar Plant in partnership with the Federal Government’s Australian Renewable Energy Agency, the NSW Government, the Broken Hill City Council, the local community and project partners First Solar.

Very excited to see more large scale solar PV projects like this one going ahead. It’s great that AGL are continuing to be one of the leaders in large-scale solar in Australia.
