Victorian Government announces new solar policy

Yesterday, the Victorian Government announced a new policy to increase the proportion of renewable energy being generated in Victoria to 25% by 2020. The new policy will involve a “Feed-in Tariff” which will be paid to large scale solar installations in Victoria. Importantly, the Government has stated that these new installations will be over and above the investment required to meet the 20% Renewable Energy Target. Further details are likely to be announced with the Government’s Climate Change White Paper which is due to be released in the next couple of weeks.
